Contribution mode
Optional and off by default. When you turn it on, Claude keeps a short note each time you correct a mistake, so the same mistake can be fixed for everyone. This page explains what it is, shows how to use it and lists exactly what happens to your data.
1. What it is and why it exists
A good drawing depends on small facts: which keyway width fits a 38 mm shaft, where a surface finish symbol belongs, which standard a workshop expects. Claude gets many of them right and some wrong. Each time you correct one, you have just done the hardest part of improving CADbyAI.
Contribution mode lets you hand that correction on. A correction we review and adopt becomes a shared rule that every CADbyAI user benefits from, you included. It is entirely your choice.
It is off, and it stays off unless you turn it on. Not using it changes nothing: same features, same trial, same price, and your files stay on your PC as the privacy policy says.
Two separate switches protect you. Saving notes keeps them on your PC only. Sending is a second, separate yes you can give or withdraw at any time.
2. Turn it on
- 1Open Claude Desktop with CADbyAI connected, as usual.
- 2Say:
turn on contribution mode. - 3Claude confirms the mode is ON and that notes stay on your PC. Nothing is sent yet.
You can also use the menu in DONG_GOP.bat (see section 7), which works without Claude.
3. Correct Claude and save a note
Work as normal. When Claude gets something wrong and you correct it, for example:
The keyway should be 10 mm wide for a 38 mm shaft, per ISO 773.
Claude saves one short note with a topic, the standard, what was wrong, what is right and why. It shows you what it saved. The note is written in plain text and stored in %LOCALAPPDATA%\cadbyai\contrib, so you can open it with Notepad and see exactly what it holds.
If you do not want a particular correction kept, say so right away and Claude will leave it out. You can also delete any note later (section 5).
4. Send your notes (optional)
- 1Say:
yes, I agree to send my notes. This is the second switch. - 2Say:
send my notes. Claude sends the notes that were not sent yet, up to 20 at a time. - 3Claude tells you how many were sent. Notes that could not be sent stay on your PC.
Claude never sends on its own: only when you ask, and only if both switches are on. See section 8 for what travels with a note.
5. Turn it off, see or delete your notes
Turn it off
Say turn off contribution mode. Saving stops at once and your permission to send is withdrawn together with it. Or use option 2 in DONG_GOP.bat.
See your notes
Open the folder %LOCALAPPDATA%\cadbyai\contrib and read pairs.jsonl with Notepad. DONG_GOP.bat option 3 opens the folder for you.
Delete your notes
Use DONG_GOP.bat option 4, or delete the folder. Notes already sent cannot be recalled (section 8).
6. Reference: what a note contains
| Field | Meaning and example |
|---|---|
| Topic | What it is about, in a few words. Example: shaft keyway |
| Standard | The standard concerned, if any. Example: ISO 773 |
| What was wrong | What Claude did. Example: keyway 8 mm wide |
| What is right | What you wanted. Example: keyway 10 mm wide |
| Why | Short reason. Example: shaft diameter 38 mm |
Each field is limited to 400 characters. Folder paths and file names are removed automatically. A note never contains drawings, models, company, customer or project names, your email, your name or your PC name.
7. Reference: phrases and the DONG_GOP.bat menu
| What you say to Claude | What happens |
|---|---|
| turn on contribution mode | Saving notes on your PC starts. Nothing is sent. |
| yes, I agree to send my notes | Allows sending (needs the mode ON). |
| send my notes | Sends the notes not yet sent. |
| turn off contribution mode | Stops saving and withdraws permission to send. |
| how is contribution mode set? | Reports ON/OFF, whether sending is allowed, and how many notes are waiting. |
| DONG_GOP.bat option | What it does |
|---|---|
| 1 Turn ON | Same as turning the mode on. |
| 2 Turn OFF | Stops saving and withdraws permission to send. |
| 3 Open notes folder | Opens %LOCALAPPDATA%\cadbyai\contrib. |
| 4 Delete all notes | Deletes the notes saved on this PC. |
| 5 Allow sending | Gives the second yes (the mode must be ON). |
| 6 Stop sending | Withdraws only the permission to send. |
DONG_GOP.bat is in the sw_mcp folder inside the CADbyAI install folder.
8. Reference: what happens to your data
| Stage | What leaves your PC |
|---|---|
| Mode OFF (default) | Nothing is saved. Nothing is sent. |
| Mode ON, sending not allowed | Notes are saved on your PC only. Nothing is sent. |
| You send your notes | The text of the notes plus your machine code. Our server turns the machine code into a one-way code. No IP address, email or file name is sent or stored. |
| A note is adopted as a rule | Only the rule (topic, standard, wrong, right, why) is shown to all users, with no link to you. |
The machine code is used only to count how many different people made the same correction and to credit your thank-you. Notes already sent cannot be recalled, because an adopted rule becomes part of the shared rules. If you keep sending off, nothing about your work ever reaches us.
9. How corrections become shared rules
Notes are not trusted blindly. Many are noisy, wrong for one workshop or true only under one standard. Every note is read by a person at CADbyAI before it can become a rule. Notes that several different users made independently are looked at first.
- 1Your note arrives and is grouped with notes that say the same thing.
- 2A person at CADbyAI reads the group and checks it against the standard it names.
- 3If it holds up, it becomes a shared rule that Claude can read at the start of a design task.
- 4Contributors whose correction is adopted are thanked with bonus days. We decide the amount and the conditions.
Approved rules are published, so every CADbyAI user can benefit from them. They contain no information about who contributed.
10. Quick answers
Does it slow Claude down?
No. Saving a note is one short line of text on your PC.
Can I take part without sending anything?
Yes. You can keep notes on your PC for your own reference and never turn sending on.
Is my design confidential?
Your files never leave your PC. A note describes a general correction in a few words. If a correction would reveal something confidential, tell Claude not to keep it or delete the note.
I changed my mind after sending.
You can stop sending at any time. Notes already sent cannot be recalled because they are not linked to your name or email.
Where do I ask a question?
On the CADbyAI YouTube channel. See also the privacy policy.
